Rikke Brandt Broegaard
Bio
I carry out research, analyses and pilot projects focusing on rural development, niche businesses, networks, tourism and community resilience.
Throughout my professional career, I have worked with inequality, power and natural resource governance in rural settings – first in Latin America, Southeast Asia and Africa, more recently in a Danish and Scandinavian context. How can rural places develop their potential at the fullest? How do we create institutions, that ensure equal opportunities? What are the roles of belonging, empowerment and collaboration? I am interested in place effects of mobility and multi-local actors, including flows of non-local or foreign investment, and the challenges of governance of flows, rather that territories. I understand places and spatial processes as nested and interrelated, why I combine qualitative and quantitative methods, often involving multi-scalar analyses.
